Mataking Island, 45 minutes speedboat from mainland of Semporna… a very peaceful and beautiful island. Two island ( Mataking Besar & Mataking Kecil ) with one resort—The Reef Dive Resort.
I went there during Chinese New Year 2008 with my family member and friends. Wake up early morning to take an hour drive from Tawau to Semporna to catch 9am speedboat to Mataking Island. After 45 minutes, we arrives Mataking Island… yeah..!!
Resort is located at Mataking Besar Island. We check-in at the reception but the rooms are not ready yet….so we walked around the island. We went to the Watch Tower for day scene lookout. From there, you could see Mataking Kecil Island and the beaches…
Hahah… finally waiting until lunch hour lah… we went to the restaurant to have lunch… is buffet style. All the seats are pre-seating for all the guests…
After lunch, we also did reservation for beachfront Jacuzzi (FOC.. hihihi..) and night activity – jungle trekking & sighting of seasonal turtle laying eggs, coconut crab and fire flies…
In the afternoon, we rent the snorkeling equipment for snorkeling at Mataking Kecil Island…We walked a long way from Mataking Besar Island to Mataking Kecil Island, I think should be around 15 minutes on the white sand… is a very unique feeling… ~wooh.~~…yeah..~~In Mataking Kecil Island, the marine life and corals are very colourful and beautiful… difference type of fishes, will feel peaceful and satisfied during snorkeling time.. Haha~~… we need to keep an eye on the white sand because when sea water are rising tide…then we cannot back to our resort… After snorkeling, we go to relax and enjoy our beachfront Jacuzzi… the water of the Jacuzzi actually is water of the sea…

Surprising, the resort prepared every groups has 鱼生for 捞生because Chinese New Year… We had a very nice buffet dinner on that night and we also ordered a wine to celebrate

On Next day, there was a very strong wave… I was injured when I want to do snorkeling in front of the resort… After that, I back to room to shower and go to reception to take some medicine for my injury. Unexpected, I met my friends, Jennifer and Gillian in Mataking Island.
Due to the wave too strong, we couldn’t use the jetty to embark the speedboat… we use the nature style… which the speedboat stop at the beach, and using a chair to let guests get on to the speedboat.. until all of us.. wet – only pants lah…
RELAX n ENJOY in MATAKING ISLAND… I think I will be back again…
